Research Forum on Diabetes

Once again, the UERM Research Institute for Health Sciences has achieved another breakthrough when it presented a Research Forum on Diabetes last May 30, 2019 at the UERM Nursing Amphitheater A.

Dr. Jennifer M. Nailes, VP for Research, UERMMMCI, opened the forum and concluded by Dr. Jose D. Quebral, Director for Publication and Research Dissemination, UERMMMCI.

The research papers presented were as follows:

1. The role of bariatric and metabolic surgery in mildly diabetic patients, delivered by Dr. Jose D. Quebral.

2. Effectiveness of Brassica juncea (mustard green), leaf decoction as an adjunct in the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus among Filipinos, a randomized clinical trial, delivered by Ms. Monica Coralde, 4th year student, Doctor of Medicine, UERMMMCI.

3. Angelica keiskei (ashitaba) adjuvant therapy in the maintenance of blood glucose levels among Filipino patients with type II diabetes mellitus, delivered by Dr. Jose Ronilo G. Juangco, Faculty, Department of Preventive and Community Medicine.

After the presentations, the following experts gave their feedback: Dr. Cecilia Maramba-Lazarte, Dr. Miguel Mendoza, and Dr. Amiel Nazer Bermudez. This was followed by a Q&A session.
