UERMMMC College of Physical Therapy Alumni Association, Inc.'s 2019 Orientation for Career Paths in Physical Therapy
The UERMMMC College of Allied Rehabilitations Sciences in collaboration with the UERMMMC Physical Therapy Alumni Association, Inc. organized a Career Path Orientation last April 27, 2019 from 8:00am to 12:00nn at the UERMMMC Nursing Amphitheater.
The activity was catered to the incoming Level V BSPT students’ batch 2019-2020, and PT Alumni Class of 2018 and 2019, to guide and inspire them in their on-going career ventures.
Some Alumni from the earlier batches, who are presently connected with other local and overseas institutions, were invited to share their best practices and tips to the incoming Alumni participants.
The key topics delivered were: Working in the Academe and Private Home Care, Working as a Paediatric PT, Administrative Function as a PT, Working as a PT in the US and Middle East, Working as a PT in a public and private hospital setting, and PT in Sports.
The topic on “The Role of Soft Skills for Career Success” was presented by Ms. Cristine G. Bautista, the UERMMMC’s Senior Guidance Counselor. Ms. Bautista emphasized the crucial value of soft skills in building a great career. It includes good communication, positive attitude, teamwork, problem solving, leadership, and professionalism. Acquiring these soft skills represent up to 85% of job success.
Two video presentations about “Working in Research” and “Community-based PT in the Far Flung Areas” were also shown in the activity.
After the event, the officers of the UERMMMC Physical Therapy Alumni Association, Inc. awarded the certificates of attendance to the participants.
