With the theme, “Looking forward to a healthy UERM thru responsible health care”, the UERM Hospital successfully celebrated its week-long anniversary last January 7-11, 2019 reaching 59 years and counting.
Once again, the Medical Center witnessed the camaraderie of the UERM community as anniversary activities were well-attended during the entire festivity.
The celebration kicked-off with a morning Eucharistic Mass officiated by Fr. Jerry M. Orbos on January 7.
Dr. Maribeth T. de los Santos, Vice President for Hospital Services, gave the welcome remarks right after the Mass followed by a simple breakfast treat for the participants.
A lecture on “Ergonomics in the workplace” by Dr. Shelly Evangelista Fullante, faculty of the College of Allied Rehabilitation Sciences, was one of the highlights of day 1 celebration.
The activities for the rest of the days were primarily catered for free to the hospital’s out-patients through lay forums and sub-specialty consultations.
Dr. Claro Raymundo O. Antonio, of the Internal Medicine, talked about “Where is the Philippines with the Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) Infection”.
Ms. Malou Ramos, Head of Medical Records Section, gave her own testimonial regarding her plight as a breast cancer survivor.
Dr. Josefina Carlos, a Pediatrician, discussed about “Experiencing the impact of vaccine hesitancy”.
Dr. Miguel Sabillena, of the Internal Medicine, delivered a lecture on “Kidney Disease in the eyes of a patient”.

Singing and dance contests
The UERM employees also experienced fun and fortune during the week-long anniversary. There were dance and singing contests as well as Bingo socials, Zumba session in the morning, and employees who were most commended by patients were also recognized during the event.
