In line with the 37th National Disability Prevention & Rehabilitation Week, the UERMMMCI College of Allied Rehabilitation Sciences Student Council offered ”Basic Life Support Training” for the students of BSPT & BSPO. It was conducted last July 23, 2015 from 9:00 am – 6:00 pm at the Nursing Building Amphitheater A.
The lecturers were from Fire Emergency Paramedic Assistance Group (FEPAG) and accredited by the American Safety and Health Institute. This training is not included in the 650php collected for SC fee, but an amount of 1,000php was collected from the students who participated.
The training is designed to enhance the knowledge and skill of the student for emergency purposes. The topics discussed were: Basic Life Support, First Aid, Wound Management/Assessment, Fire Emergency and Earthquake Drill. For each topic there were drills with the use of human dummies and other practical skill activities. One of the highlights of the training program is the usage of Automated External Defibrillator (AED), in where students performed one-by-one or by group.
The food and drinks were provided for the participants by the student council.
Also, for the students who completed the training, there is a certificate given.
Overall, the training was a success, and the students were given the wisdom on how to respond to emergencies.
